Text message reminders (SMS)

PoCo may offer optional text message reminders related to care, such as medication-related reminders. These messages are not emergency services and are not a substitute for professional care.

How you opt in (consent)

We collect SMS consent separately from acceptance of our Privacy Policy and Terms. Consent is requested in the app when a user enables critical medication reminders (for example, when marking a medication as “critical”), using a clear, explicit statement (e.g., “I agree to receive text messages from ImSafeNow, Inc.”). The consent checkbox is presented prominently and is unchecked by default.

SMS reminders are optional. You can use PoCo without consenting to receive SMS reminders, but you must opt in to receive reminder texts.

Types of messages and frequency

  • Message types: care reminders (including critical medication reminders)
  • Frequency: up to 1–2 messages per day (max), depending on your medication schedule

Service provider

We use Twilio as a service provider to send and receive SMS messages. Twilio processes your phone number and message delivery metadata on our behalf to provide this feature.

Opt-out and help

  • Stop: Reply STOP at any time to opt out of SMS messages.
  • Help: Reply HELP for help.
  • Restart: Reply START to re-subscribe after opting out.

Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier is not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

What we collect for SMS

If you enable SMS reminders, we may collect and store:

  • phone number
  • consent/opt-out status and timestamps
  • message metadata (delivery status, timestamps, message IDs)
  • limited inbound message content for compliance/processing of STOP/HELP/START keywords

For additional details about the SMS program, see our Messaging Terms.

End-to-End Encryption

Your Messages Are Private

PoCo uses end-to-end encryption to ensure your conversations remain completely private:

  • Messages are encrypted on your device before transmission
  • Only you can decrypt and read your conversations
  • We cannot access or read your message content
  • Encryption keys are stored locally on your device

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your explicit consent
  • To comply with legal requirements
  • To protect our rights and safety

Data Security

We implement appropriate security measures to protect your information:

  • End-to-end encryption for all messages
  • Secure data transmission using HTTPS
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Limited access to personal information

  • Usage data: 12 months for analytics purposes

  • Access your personal information
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt-out of marketing communications
  • Export your data (where technically feasible)
